TEHRAN, July 22 (MNA) – Former president Mohammad Khatami has praised the ‘admirable’ leadership of Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah as an “example of wisdom in the Middle East political arena.”

In a message to Nasrallah released on Tuesday, Khatami congratulated Hezbollah for obtaining the release of Lebanese resistance forces in a swap deal with Israel.
Last week Israel handed over its last five Lebanese prisoners and the bodies of 199 Lebanese and Palestinian fighters. In exchange Hezbollah returned the bodies of two Israeli soldiers.
Tens of thousands of people attended celebrations after the swap, including Hezbollah chief Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah.
“The news of the exulted Lebanese nation’s success in obtaining the release of prisoners from the occupying regime’s jails brought us happiness and joy. Certainly your admirable leadership has included another golden page in the history of Hezbollah’s achievements,” Khatami said, addressing Nasrallah.
“The wise Lebanese leaders have not only saved their country from a serious crisis through unity, they have also displayed an outstanding example of wisdom and have prepared the ground for resolving other regional problems as well,” he added.
“I congratulate your Excellency, the brave Hezbollah soldiers, and Lebanese leaders and nation on this great victory. I hope the current stage will pave the way for reinforcing unity in the Islamic world.
